1917, just 20 years after Anderson's historic transmission of electric
power,
Walter Hill began working as an operator of Portman Shoals Power Plant.
After several years of generating electric power to be transmitted to
The Electric City, he followed those power lines to Anderson and founded
Hill Electric Company
He believed it took 8 hours work to earn 8 hours pay.
That philosphy continues today.
