Legacy Hill Electric
In 1917, just 20 years after Anderson's historic transmission of electric power, Walter Hill began working as an operator of Portman Shoals Power Plant. After several years of generating electric power which was transmitted to Anderson, he followed the power lines to “The Electric City” and founded Hill Electric Company. He believed that it took 8 hours work to earn 8 hours pay. That philosophy continues today. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
